Broadcasting veteran Paul Kennedy is the host and rinkside reporter for Tampa Bay Lightning games on Bally Sports Florida.
Kennedy’s history with the Lightning can be traced back to Day 1, when he anchored Sun Sports’ NHL Expansion Draft coverage in 1992 as the Lightning welcomed the likes of Brian Bradley and John Tucker to the organization. He also served as the Lightning’s pre-game host for the franchise’s first two seasons.
Since joining regional sports network Sun Sports at its inception in 1988, Kennedy has called the action on numerous local, regional, and national sporting events, making him one of the most well-known and respected on-air sports talents in Florida.
In 2000, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) named Kennedy “Florida Sportscaster of the Year.” In 2016 he begins his 33rd season serving as studio host for the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
Prior to his arriving in Florida, Kennedy was the “Voice of the Crimson Tide” for five years at University of Alabama. He also called Florida State football and “Prime Time Noles” for more than 20 seasons.
Paul studied English literature and political science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
