Save the date! The second annual USF Esports Summit will be held on Sept. 23, at the Marshall Student Center on the main campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.
Hosted by the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program in the Muma College of Business, the summit gathers leaders from across the esports ecosystem to discuss the progression, business opportunities and future of the high-growth $1 billion esports industry.
The inaugural, sold-out USF Esports Summit held in Sept. 2019 drew over 400 attendees from 13 states. The highly-praised event included global leaders across esports, entertainment and technology industries from brands such as EA Sports, IBM, NBA 2K League, aXiomatic Gaming, Fox Sports, and Skillshot Media.
The 2020 summit will expand the program to include multiple tracks on esports business, collegiate and scholastic esports, and esports research. A special pre-summit workshop will be offered to attendees that would like an entry-level overview of the esports ecosystem.
Details on the 2020 summit agenda will be revealed in the coming months. Registration will open in May.
“Our goal at the USF Vinik Sport and Entertainment Management program is to be at the forefront of the trends in the industry,” said Michelle Harrolle, Director of the USF Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program. “For instance, we were one of the first to offer social media and analytics courses. Now, we understand how important esports is to the industry, and want to make sure that our students and Tampa Bay community are educated about this immensely fast-growing segment of the entertainment industry. We know our graduates will be the leaders in the esports industry for decades to come.”
A national call for submissions for esports research abstracts and poster presentations is now open until April 23. Information and submission guidelines can be found here.
